Gabrielle Formica

By Rex Darren

Let's not put too fine a point on it: Gabrielle Formica on her best day couldn't have acted her way out of a paper bag. Luckly for the show, she had a natural and irrepressible raw sexuality that usually overcame this singular lack of talent in most of her scenes in the show.

Playing the role of Katherine "Violet" Gentry, her main roles were to perform semi-skilled laboratory work under the direction of the other characters, patiently listen and occasionally ask questions while other characters delivered exposition, and, of course, to make goo-goo eyes at her unrequited crush, Dr. Tamarin.

Gabrielle left the show mid-season after the much-reported-in-the-tabloids Miami Scandal. Her departure was so sudden that, in order to write her character out of the show, the writers were forced to repurpose some footage from the outtakes of earlier episodes in which Gabrielle, quite possibly inebriated, accidentally fell over the fence surrounding the rooftop of Unicode Gamma Headquarters. Unicode fandom has spend considerable effort attempting to develop an in-story explanation for the 'mysterious' smile on Formica/Gentry's face as she fell onto the grass surrounding the rooftop set/to her death.
